Statement from Valley Forge National Historical Park

Due to the lapse in federal appropriations, the National Park Service is unable to fully staff the properties under its management, including Valley Forge National Historical Park. All park buildings, including the Visitor Center and all restrooms, will be closed.

Park grounds, roads, trails and parking areas will remain open to the public. Park gates will be opened and closed at their normal times. State roadways (PA Rt. 23, Rt. 252 and Gulph Rd) and The Schuylkill River Trail will remain open through the park.

The National Park Service will not operate Valley Forge during the shutdown period, and no visitor services will be provided. Visitors should dial 911 in the event of an emergency. For more information visit nps.gov/vafo.

Your Oasis. Your History. Our Mission.

Washington’s Headquarters in Winter

Foresight has preserved and protected the Valley Forge legacy for over two hundred years, starting in 1877 when Anna Morris Holstein and the Valley Forge Centennial Memorial Association raised the money to purchase and preserve General Washington’s Headquarters at Valley Forge. Today, the Valley Forge Park Alliance continues the foresight and work of its founders. We are the stewards of the past and advocates for the future.

Our mission is to inspire appreciation of and support for Valley Forge National Historical Park. Please support our mission by joining as a member, making a contribution, or becoming a volunteer.
